The Melbourne Cup race day is a tradition in Australia. The first Tuesday of November there is a race that they say stops the nation (well, as a foreigner I don't really care and most years I was too busy with my own thing to stop & look) but this year (race No. 149) I had the chance to go to a Melbourne Cup race meeting in Kumbia in Country Queensland. I had my small camera (so I don't have too much attention when taking the photos) and I took these photos I felt tells a bit of a story of the race meeting and also the Melbourne Cup race. Lots of people put a bet on that day, where they normally wouldn't. Lots of people put on their best dress & hat which is a big thing and men dress up (even very silly !!!! as one photo shows) and lots of drink and having steak sandwich and just having fun. Also at this track the Jacaranda trees were in full bloom as you can see. Enjoy
a good steak sandwich is a must !!!
