The essence of England life

Where to start to explain the essence of England ? we have some roots in this country, and been in this country a few times in the past (Rob lived in England for 3 years) I didn't realise how much small things remind us what is so English . The photo of these 2 gentlemen, when I look for photos to put on my blog I came across this photo and next I thought about 'Sherlock Holmes & Mr Watson in their retirement' or this pier where you can get fish & chips (soaked with vinegar of course)

Ah what a life, the barges and the canal life. The idea of the canals is old, When the Romans were in England they had the idea of transporting goods via the aqueduct and in the industrial revolution that swept England in the 18th century transport goods on water with barges as a new way of transport the goods all over England in a faster way . For around 30-40 years this system was working great and then the train came & replaced this type of transportation but these days this is very popular with tourist and interesting life style. What impressed us was some of the 'folk-art' that been painted on these barges.

The shopping gallery in Chester

Rob found the information about these 3-4 villages in Herefordshire near the border with Wales (these photos taken in Eardisland.) and later we visited Chester where they got this Gallery where the shop is on 2 levels and its good for the English weather (rain) as you can go under cover, a bit like the wide awnings in country towns in Australia

If you ever watch the British program caledl 'Doc Martin' these photos reminded me of the program and its local landscape. We liked the up-side down boat they converted to sheds and the crab nets

Traveling throughout England and its many small towns we sow a lot of town centers where they are renewing the Farmers markets (a lot of time it was on Wednesdays & Saturdays ) and it take place in this buildings

Very much an English pub
